2.0% lanthanum wolfram electrode (Wolfram electrodes), which is also known as WL electrode, contains a minimum of 96.50% tungsten and 1.80% to 2.20% lanthanum.
Lathanated Tungsten are excellent for AC welding due to favorable retention of balled end ,high resistance to contamination ,and good ARC starting .Preferred when Tubgsten contaminationof weld is intolerable.
Unlike thoriated tungsten, these lanthanated wolfram electrodes are suitable for AC welding and, like ceriated electrodes, allow for the arc to be started and maintained at lower voltages.
